Typosquatting, also called URL hijacking, is a form of cybersquatting which relies on mistakes such as typographical errors made by Internet users when inputting a website address into a web browser. Should a user accidentally enter an incorrect website address, they may be led to an alternative website owned by a cybersquatter. Read more about Typosquatting and Cybersquatting on Wikipedia.
Please note carefully that usually not all domains listed in Serversniff's results are cybersquatted - some might even be registered or owned by the legitimate owner of the original domain. Serversniff will check usual typos and phonetic typos, e.g. googel.com instead of google.de.
Instead of listing just the registered names like most other typo-sites do, Serversniff.net will list only sites with an IP-Adress assigned. Since many sites like www.yahoo.de (check here) have registered typo-domains themselfes, we will also list the more data, which makes it often much easier to distinguish typosquatted domains from those registered by the legimate domain-owner.
